| Position Title: | President |
| Term: | One Year |
- FUNCTION
The President is the chief presiding officer of the Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors. This individual is responsible for the general direction of the Association and presides at all meetings. The President appoints committee chairmen, subject to approval by the Board of Directors, and is designated ex officio member of all committees. The President is the major spokesperson for the Association, and therefore, must keep himself/herself and the Board informed on Association projects, industry related developments and state and national issues and events. The most efficient method to gather information and new ideas is by networking with other Association presidents at local, state and national meetings. The President is expected to attend these meetings, or send a representative, as well as to maintain a visible position with the general membership.
- SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the limits of the charter and bylaws of the Association and policies established by the Board of Directors, the Chief Elected Officer, with appropriate delegations:
- Presides at all meetings of the Association;
- Determines the schedules and substance of the agenda for meetings of the Association;
- Works closely with the Office Manager of the Association to ensure the policies of the Association are carried out;
- Keeps the membership and the Board of Directors informed on the conditions and operations of the Association and real estate industry;
- Serves as a Director of the Maryland Association of REALTORS®;
- Serves as spokesperson for the Association;
- Prepares and presents an annual budget for approval to the Board of Directors, in conjunction with staff;
- Monitors expenditures to assure operation within the annual budget; has check signing authority;
- Directs the Board of Directors in formulating policies and programs which will further the goals and objectives of the Association;
- Works closely with the President-Elect on committee vice-chairman appointments; maintains open communication and helps to train the President-Elect to assume the role of presidency;
- Serves as Chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee;
- Prepares and presents an annual report in conjunction with staff;
- Is a major contributor to RPAC.
As President of the Association, the following meetings should be attended:
Local Level:
- Board of Directors Meetings - Usually held the 2nd Wednesday of each month
- Broker/Owner/Manager Roundtables - As designated
- General Membership meetings - As designated
State Level:
- All Board of Directors Meetings at MAR
- MAR Annual Convention
- Eastern Shore District Meetings
- Leadership Conference - Annually, usually in October
- President's Council
National Level:
- NAR Annual Convention - November each year - place to be determined
- NAR Mid-Year Meeting - April each year - Washington, DC
Room, Board, Registration and Travel Expenses reimbursed by the Coastal Association of REALTORS® for all State and National meetings.

| Term: | One Year |
- FUNCTION
The President-Elect performs the duties of the President in the absence of the President. This person's responsibility includes preparation for the role of presidency. In preparing for this position, the President-Elect has specific duties as outlined below.
- SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends local meetings of the Association;
- Helps the President prepare the agenda for the Board of Directors meetings;
- Serves as liaison to the MLS Committee;
- Serves on the Budget and Finance Committee;
- Helps prepare the annual budget;
- Has authority to sign checks;
- Is a major contributor to RPAC.
As President-Elect of the Association, the following meetings should be attended;
Local Level:
- Board of Directors Meetings - Usually held the 2nd Wednesday of each month
- Broker/Owner/Manager Roundtables - As designated
- General Membership Meetings - As designated
State Level:
- All Board of Directors Meetings at MAR
- MAR Annual Convention
- Leadership Conference - Annually, usually in October
National Level:
- NAR Mid-Year Meeting - April each year, Washington, DC
- NAR Region III Conference
- NAR Leadership Conference - August each year, Chicago, IL

| Term: | One Year |
- FUNCTION
The Vice President serves as Parliamentarian of the Board. Proper parliamentary procedure provides order to meetings and helps conduct business in a smooth and organized manner. The Parliamentarian does not rule, but advises the presiding officer or chair on correct procedure (reference: Robert's Rules of Order). The Vice President also informs the Board of proper action to maintain compliance of the Board's Bylaws and Operating Policies. In the absence of the President and President-Elect, the Vice President assumes the duties of the President.
- SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends local meetings of the Association;
- Serves as liaison to the Membership and Education Committees;
- Serves on the Budget and Finance Committee;
- Has authority to sign checks;
- Is a major contributor to RPAC.
As Vice President of the Association, the following meetings should be attended:
Local Level:
- Board of Directors Meeting - Usually held the 2nd Wednesday of each month
- Broker/Owner/Manager Roundtables - As designated
- General Membership Meetings - As designated

| Term: | One Year |
- FUNCTION
It is the duty of the Secretary to attend meetings and to take or designate a staff person, to keep accurate records and meetings minutes. The Secretary shall review and sign all minutes before they are distributed, and shall take an active part in creation and maintenance of Association records, scrapbooks, press releases, etc. The Secretary may be called upon to sign certain legal documents.
- SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends all local Association meetings;
- Takes or designates a staff person to keep accurate records and meeting minutes; and signs minutes before they are distributed;
- Presents or designates Management Team to present monthly and annual financial statements to the Board of Directors;
- Serves on the Budget Finance Committee;
- Helps prepare the Association's annual budget;
- Has authority to sign checks;
- Is a major contributor to RPAC.

| Term: | One Year |
- FUNCTION
The Immediate Past President is an essential component of the main decision-making body of the Association, and supports the Officers and Directors with an historical perspective. The primary duty of this position is to meet regularly with the Officers of the Coastal Association of REALTORS® and other Directors to approve, establish, prioritize and evaluate the programs and services of the Association to be sure that they serve the mission of the Association. He/she should be sufficiently informed to represent the members in ensuring the continuity of the Association by planning for the future, establishing and reviewing major policies and programs and making sure the organization is fiscally sound.
- SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to all the specific responsibilities of a CAR Director, the Immediate Past President:
- Serves as a member of the Executive Committee;
- Serves as the Chair of the Nominating Committee, upon appointment of the President;
- Attends local, state, and national meetings as requested;
- Is a major contributor to RPAC.

- FUNCTION

- Vote on requests for RPAC funds;
- Act on recommendations from all committees;
- Approve committee job descriptions;
- Approve officer job descriptions;
- Approve President's goals and plans;
- Review Board's insurance policies.
